XX2i Optics Hawaii 1 and Bermuda 1 Review

XX2i is committed to producing the best possible eyewear for outdoor enthusiasts and stand behind each product they produce with integrity and pride.  They want to insure that you are completely satisfied, no matter what.   XX2i sunglasses are not available in stores from what I could find, but they offer the best warranty that I have seen, anywhere.  You can try them for 365 days and if you don’t like them, you can return them and get your money back.  Also, they have a “no questions asked” lifetime warranty, even if you scratch or break the glasses.

I have been extremely pleased with the France 2 and USA 1 sunglasses when I reviewed them on my blog in the past (France 2 Review USA 1 Review).  They are both great shades at a great price.  I got an email from the rep at XX2i about testing out a few of the 2016 sunglasses and was excited to test them out as well.

Hawaii 1

I got the Hawaii 1 sunglasses and liked that they were very similar to the France 2, which is one of my favorite sunglasses.  The Hawaii 1 have a little more coverage on the side, which will provide more protection from the sun.  The Hawaii 1 sunglasses also improved the clarity of the optics and now come standard with polarized 8k lenses which ensuring the utmost lens clarity for any kind of outdoor training and racing.

The Hawaii 1 sunglasses I tested were the Matte White with Polar Grey Lenses (which look slightly blue).  There are extremely light weight thanks to the carbon fiber arms.  The arms come with rubber in the temple area as well as behind the ears. What does that mean for you?  You get a light pair of sunglasses that won’t slide or move around, even if they are sitting on top of your head (not in use).

The Hawaii 1 sunglasses are easy to adjust and can adapt to almost any face shape or activity that you are performing.  The nosepiece is bendable to provide a better, more personalized, fit.

I have to say that these are one of the better fitting and more comfortable sunglasses that I tested, especially for my face shape.  I have a hard time finding sunglasses that look good on me, but these did.
Pros:
Very light weight material
Great Value (Starting at $124.99)
Great fit, doesn’t move around or bounce while running
Stunningly clear lenses
Unbeatable warranty

Cons:
Not available in stores

The Hawaii 1 sunglasses offer a great fit for a variety of face shapes and activities.  XX2i has shown that they can play with the big boys with these sunglasses.  You can pick up yours for $124.99 at the XX2i website.  The Hawaii 1 sunglasses fit great, and have the best warranty in the business, and are feather light.  It doesn’t get any better than that.  Grab a pair today!

Bermuda 1

I got the Bermuda 1 sunglasses in White & Black to test as well.  They are XX2i’s first casual sunglasses.  XX2i claims that they are the ultimate go-to sunglasses that are easy on your wallet.  They are available in classic Matte Black, Matte Tortoise, White & Black, and Crystal Black.

The Bermuda 1 sunglasses use the same advanced materials as the XX2i performance models and come standard with polarized lenses with 4k optical technology that ensures the utmost frame durability and lens clarity, just like the Hawaii 1.

I am testing these based on the design, feel, and look.  Everyone has to find sunglasses that work for their faces and to be completely honest, these sunglasses just didn’t look good on me.  With that being said, my running friends tried them out and they looked awesome.  I’m just not cool enough for the Bermuda 1 sunglasses.  It’s all about personal preference.  All XX2i shades come with a 365 day money back guarantee and a lifetime frame and lens warranty.
Pros:
Very light weight material
Great Value (Starting at $99.99)
Great fit, doesn’t move around or bounce while running
Stunningly clear lenses
Unbeatable warranty

Cons:
Not available in stores

The Bermuda 1 sunglasses look great and fit well for a variety of face shapes.  I think that XX2i did a great job with their first casual use shades.  You can pick up yours for $99.99 at the XX2i website.

Optic Nerve Reactor PM and Reactor Polarized Review

Optic Nerve is based out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, right outside of Denver.  They have been around for 25 years and are a smaller company that produces pro quality sunglasses that are tested not only by top athletes, but the average weekend warrior too.  They believe it is better to provide good service and top quality shades for a fair price instead of spending money on expensive endorsements.  I was given the Reactor PM and Reactor Polarized to review.  They don’t come with interchangeable lenses, but do come with photocromatic or polarized lenses depending on which model you purchase.

The Reactor PM has a photocromatic lens that adjust the tint according to various light conditions.  It comes with a hydrophobic lens coating that repels water, oil and dust.  The lens is called Rose to Smoke, meaning that it has a reddish tint which provides accurate colors, contrast and definition.  They darken in brighter conditions and the transition only takes 7-11 seconds, which happens without you even noticing.

The Reactor PM is extremely light weight and feel very minimalistic.  I hardly even noticed I had them on, which is a very good thing.  In fact, because they use a durable TR90 frame, it is the lightest set of shades that Optic Nerve has made to date.  They have rubber tips near your ears and fully adjustable rubber nose bridge pieces.  These shades didn’t move or bounce around at all.  They are made for people with average shaped faces.  Unlike some of the sunglasses that I tested last year that didn’t work with the shape of my face, the Reactor PM fit perfectly.  The Reactor PM retails for $89.00 and they can be purchased at the Optic Nerve website or at a local retailer near you (click here for links).

The Reactor Polarized is almost identical to the Reactor PM with the exception of having a polarized lens instead of the photocromatic lens.  It has all of the same features, shape, and fit.  I love the look of these.  They sent me the silver frames with the red lenses.  I think they look sharp and the optics are awesome.  You can get the Reactor Polarized for $65.00 and they can be purchased at the Optic Nerve website or at a local retailer near you (click here for links).

Optic Nerve offers a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects on all of their sunglasses.  If you are the original purchaser of Optic Nerve shades and there is a defect in the material or workmanship during the lifetime of the sunglasses, they will fix it.  This warranty policy does not cover normal wear and tear or scratched lenses though.

Pros:
Very light weight
The Reactor PM can be used in variable light conditions
Great fit, doesn’t bounce or move around
Lifetime warranty against manufactures defects.
Great value (Reactor PM $89.00, Reactor Polarized $65.00)

I am extremely pleased with the Reactor PM and Reactor Polarized.  They are great sunglasses, especially being that they are the least expensive sunglasses that I reviewed.  You don’t always have to pay more to get a great product and Optic Nerve has proved that with these sunglasses.

6 Great Sunglasses for Runners and Cyclists (2016 Edition)

Over the next 4 days, I will feature 6 great sunglasses for runners and cyclists.  They encompass different features that make them great.  This is just an overview of the full product reviews that I will post in the coming days. Depending on the shape of your face, different sunglasses will work better for you.  I am reviewing theses sunglasses based on features, price, materials and warranty.  (Click here for last year’s review)

The Reactor PM has a photocromatic lens that adjust the tint according to various light conditions.  It comes with a hydrophobic lens coating that repels water, oil, and dust.  They use TR90 (a durable, flexible, and light weight material) in the frame to make these the lightest Optic Nerve shades to date.  They use rubber tips near your ears and a fully adjustable nose piece for a great fit.  The Reactor Polarized is identical to the Reactor PM with the exception of the lenses being polarized and not photochromatic. These are made for people who have average sized faces.  Optic Nerve offers a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects.

The Bermuda 1 is XX2i’s first attempt at a casual pair of shades and they did a great job.  They are light weight and look great.  There are four different models (color options) to choose from and they have 4k optics that ensures the utmost frame durability and lens clarity.   The Bermuda 1 comes with the best warranty in the business.  You can try them for 365 days and if you don’t like them, you can return and get your money back.  Also, they have a “no questions asked” lifetime warranty, even if you scratch or break the glasses.

The Hawaii 1 from XX2i Optics is probably the lightest shades that I tested.  They come with adjustable temples and nose pads and carbon fiber arms.  They come with 8k optics that ensures the utmost frame durability and lens clarity.   All XX2i shades come with a great warranty, a semi-hard case, cleaning cloth bag, and a strap (known as Croakies back in the day).  These are my favorite XX2i shades to date and it has a lot to do with the fit, how light they are and the super crisp optics.

The Parallel D Max was the most expensive pair of sunglasses that I tested.  They are worth the price though.  The lenses come with a Hydroleophobic (which reduces fingerprints, oil, and water marks) lens coating.  They fit medium sized faces and wrap around the sides more than the other shades I tested meaning you have better protection from the sun.  These are super light, extremely comfortable and won’t bounce around.  The Parallel D Max comes with a hard case and three lenses plus a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects.

The Crit comes with a Fototec (photocromatic) lens and costs $62.59 on Amazon.  These are light weight sunglasses that won’t bounce around while you are running or riding.  They have great coverage and the changing tint on the lenses make these perfect for changing light conditions.  One awesome feature of the Crit that the other glasses didn’t have are the vent holes at the top of the lenses.  These sunglasses never had an issue with fogging and the vents are the reason why.   The Crit is made for people with medium to large sized faces.  All Tifosi products come with a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects and you get a semi-hard case and cleaning cloth bag as well.

Don’t let the sun damage your sight.  It is one thing that can’t be replaced when damaged.  Protecting your eyes is vital and wearing a decent pair of sunglasses can take some stress off of your eyes too.  Cheaper sunglasses that you buy for $10 at your local Walmart are better than nothing, but your eyes will have to work harder to see.  There really is a difference when you look at these more expensive shades.  Finding sunglasses that will protect your eyes, fit well, and feel great isn’t always easy.  You might need to go to a local shop to test out a few pairs.  Check out my full reviews throughout the week to find out more about these great sunglasses.
