Optic Nerve Reactor PM and Reactor Polarized Review

Optic Nerve is based out of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, right outside of Denver.  They have been around for 25 years and are a smaller company that produces pro quality sunglasses that are tested not only by top athletes, but the average weekend warrior too.  They believe it is better to provide good service and top quality shades for a fair price instead of spending money on expensive endorsements.  I was given the Reactor PM and Reactor Polarized to review.  They don’t come with interchangeable lenses, but do come with photocromatic or polarized lenses depending on which model you purchase.

The Reactor PM has a photocromatic lens that adjust the tint according to various light conditions.  It comes with a hydrophobic lens coating that repels water, oil and dust.  The lens is called Rose to Smoke, meaning that it has a reddish tint which provides accurate colors, contrast and definition.  They darken in brighter conditions and the transition only takes 7-11 seconds, which happens without you even noticing.

The Reactor PM is extremely light weight and feel very minimalistic.  I hardly even noticed I had them on, which is a very good thing.  In fact, because they use a durable TR90 frame, it is the lightest set of shades that Optic Nerve has made to date.  They have rubber tips near your ears and fully adjustable rubber nose bridge pieces.  These shades didn’t move or bounce around at all.  They are made for people with average shaped faces.  Unlike some of the sunglasses that I tested last year that didn’t work with the shape of my face, the Reactor PM fit perfectly.  The Reactor PM retails for $89.00 and they can be purchased at the Optic Nerve website or at a local retailer near you (click here for links).

The Reactor Polarized is almost identical to the Reactor PM with the exception of having a polarized lens instead of the photocromatic lens.  It has all of the same features, shape, and fit.  I love the look of these.  They sent me the silver frames with the red lenses.  I think they look sharp and the optics are awesome.  You can get the Reactor Polarized for $65.00 and they can be purchased at the Optic Nerve website or at a local retailer near you (click here for links).

Optic Nerve offers a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects on all of their sunglasses.  If you are the original purchaser of Optic Nerve shades and there is a defect in the material or workmanship during the lifetime of the sunglasses, they will fix it.  This warranty policy does not cover normal wear and tear or scratched lenses though.

Pros:
Very light weight
The Reactor PM can be used in variable light conditions
Great fit, doesn’t bounce or move around
Lifetime warranty against manufactures defects.
Great value (Reactor PM $89.00, Reactor Polarized $65.00)

I am extremely pleased with the Reactor PM and Reactor Polarized.  They are great sunglasses, especially being that they are the least expensive sunglasses that I reviewed.  You don’t always have to pay more to get a great product and Optic Nerve has proved that with these sunglasses.

Note:  I received this product in exchange for a review.  The review is my personal opinion of the product and I was not required to give a particular opinion of it.  I am not a doctor, so please use all of the products that I review at your own risk.
