5 Great Sunglasses for Runners

Over the next 4 days, I will feature 5 great sunglasses for runners.  They encompass different features that make them great.  This is just an overview of the full product reviews that I will post in the coming days. Depending on the shape of your face, different sunglasses will work better for you.  I am reviewing theses sunglasses based on features, price, materials and warranty.

The Omnuim PM has a photocromatic lens that adjust the tint according to various light conditions.  It comes with a hydrophobic lens coating that repels water, oil and dust.  The Omnium PM was picked as the 2012 Runner’s World Gear of the Year.  These are made for people who have slightly narrow faces.  Optic Nerve offers a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects.

The Vahstro comes with four lenses that are easily changeable using Optic Nerve’s new “sideswipe” technology.  The color of the included lenses are polarized smoke, copper, orange, and clear.  The Vahstro also comes with the hydrophobic lens coating and its frame is made from TR90, which is an extremely durable nylon resin that prevents breaking and stretching.  The Vahstro is made for people with average sized faces.  Optic Nerve offers a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects.

The France 2 from XX2i Optics are the cheapest sunglasses that I tested, but I couldn’t tell that when I put them on.  They come with adjustable temples and nose pads.  You can change the lenses, although you would have to buy additional lenses as it only comes with one set of lenses for this price.  These were picked as Outside Magazines Killer Value Award and are made for people with narrow to average sized faces.  It comes with an amazing warranty.  You can try them for 365 days and if you don’t like them, you can return and get your money back.  Also, they have a “no questions asked” lifetime warranty, even if you scratch or break the glasses.

The Range was the most expensive sunglasses that I tested.  They are worth the price though.  The lenses come with hydrophobic and oleophobic (which reduces fingerprints) lens coatings.  Both the lenses and frames are made out a plant based material, which is better for the environment without sacrificing quality.  The Range can be made with your prescription, if needed, as well.  They come with a polarized lens and have a mirrored coating, which looks really cool.  These are made for people with average sized faces.  Zeal offers a 30 day money back warranty as long as the sunglasses are in resellable shape when they receive them.

The Seek FC comes with Fototec (photocromatic) lenses at $69.95 or with a non Fototec lens for as low as $39.95.  These are light weight sunglasses that won’t bounce around while you are running. The Fototec lenses are great, especially if you run around dawn or dusk.  The lenses also have a hydrophobic coating.  Other features of the Seek FC include adjustable ear and nose pads, frames that are made with TR90 for durability, and they come with a hard case and microfiber bag.  The lenses are made with shatterproof polycarbonate and are scratch resistant as well.  These are made for people with small to large sized faces.  All Tifosi products come with a lifetime warranty against manufacture defects.

Protecting your eyes is vital and wearing a decent pair of sunglasses can take some stress off of your eyes.  Cheaper sunglasses that you buy for $10 at your local Walmart are better than nothing, but your eyes will have to work harder to see.  I didn’t really understand this until I tried on some of these sunglasses.  I have been using a pair of old Oakley sunglasses for years and the difference was huge.  Check out my full reviews of these sunglasses throughout the week.

Note:  I received this product in exchange for a review.  The review is my personal opinion of the product and I was not required to give a particular opinion of it.  I am not a doctor, so please use all of the products that I review at your own risk.
